JOHN JAKES MOSE is the name of an exciting new band that features a diverse range of musical styles and highly textured instrumentation. Created by Ron Ciarniello and Emily Parker, shortly after meeting as graduate students at Kent State University, the band has gone on to play numerous coffee houses and clubs in the Cleveland, Akron, and Kent areas in Ohio. Ron developed his skills as a founding member of "The Reason," a powerhouse quartet that gained popularity in Cleveland and Kent throughout a better part of the 1990's. Emily contributes a unique sensibility to the group based on her musical and rural upbringing and her degree in music from Heidelberg College. Mix in bassist Don Miller with his aggressive bass lines and smooth harmony vocals and you get the distinct sound and experience that is "John Jakes Mose. The band's first album was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee at "Secret Sound Studios" (Ronnie Milsap, Jars of Clay) and proved to be a very clean-sounding vehicle for the quirky songwriting talents of Ciarniello and Parker. "John Jakes Mose" added drummer Ron Hiss, and recently released their new album "Out of Sorts," a 10 song journey that forges various emotions and styles together into a cohesive whole. From soothing to angry, acoustic to fuzz-filled, "Out of Sorts" will tear down all your old conceptions and, from the broken pieces or Sorts, build something new. |
